【摘要】:Theexposureconditionsinsolarcollectors,especiallyunderstagnationconditions,maydegradetheperformanceofthermalinsulationmaterials.Thispracticesetsforthamethodologyforevaluatingthedegreeofdegradation,ifany,ofthethermalinsulationmaterialsafterexposuretosimulatedin-serviceconditions.Thispracticeisalsointendedtoaidintheassessmentoflong-termperformancebycomparativetestingofinsulationmaterials.However,correlationsbetweenperformanceunderlaboratoryandactualin-serviceconditionshavenotbeenestablished.Thispracticealsosetsforthcriteriathatshallbeconsideredintheselectionandspecificationofthermalinsulationmaterials.Onesuchcriterionissurfaceburningcharacteristics(TestMethodE84),whichisusedbymanycodeofficialsasareference.Thispracticedoesnotrepresentthatthenumericalvaluesobtainedinanywayreflecttheanticipatedperformanceofthethermalinsulationunderactualfireconditions.1.1Thispracticesetsforthatestingmethodologyforevaluatingthepropertiesofthermalinsulationmaterialstobeusedinsolarcollectorswithconcentrationratiosoflessthan10.TestsaregivenhereintoevaluatethepH,surfaceburningcharacteristics,moistureadsorption,waterabsorption,thermalresistance,linearshrinkage(orexpansion),hotsurfaceperformance,andacceleratedaging.Thispracticeprovidesatestforsurfaceburningcharacteristicsbutdoesnotprovideamethodologyfordeterminingcombustibilityperformanceofthermalinsulationmaterials.1.2Thetestsshallapplytoblanket,rigidboard,loose-fill,andfoamthermalinsulationmaterialsusedinsolarcollectors.Otherthermalinsulationmaterialsshallbetestedinaccordancewiththeprovisionssetforthhereinandshouldnotbeexcludedfromconsideration.1.3Theassumptionismadethatelevatedtemperature,moisture,andappliedstressesaretheprimaryfactorscontributingtothedegradationofthermalinsulationmaterialsusedinsolarcollectors.1.4Solarradiationisnotconsideredacontributingfactorsinceinsulatingmaterialsarenotnormallyexposedtoit.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
