【摘要】:Thisguideisintendedasastartingplaceforthosewishingtoinvestigatethechemicalcompatibilityoftheclayportionofageosyntheticclaylinertotestliquids.Withinthescopeofthisguide,theclayportionofageosyntheticclaylinerthatischemicallycompatiblewithatestliquidmaybeexpectedtomaintainitsswellingcharacteristics.Conversely,theclayportionofageosyntheticclaylinerthatisincompatiblewithatestliquidmaybeexpectednottomaintainitsswellingcharacteristics.IninstanceswherethecompatibilityoftheclayportionofaGCLisquestionable,additionalhydraulictestingundertheexpectedsiteconditionsmaybewarranted.1.1Thisguidecoversproceduresandtestmethodsthatcanbeusedintheevaluationoftheabilityoftheclayportionofageosyntheticclaylinertoresistchangeduetoexposuretoliquids.Theseliquidsmaycomefromasite,orbegeneratedinalaboratoryfromasite-specificsoil.1.2Thescopeofthisguideislimitedtoshort-termscreeningandisnotintendedtoreplaceevaluationproceduresthatmeasureaperformancepropertysuchasEPA9100,TestMethodD5887,orothersuitableASTMstandardsastheybecomeavailable.1.3ThisguideappliestotheclaycomponentofaGCL.ThesyntheticcarriercomponentsarecoveredindependentlyasdescribedinPracticeD5322.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
